Diabetic retinopathy is a leading cause of blindness world wide. It affects blood vessels of the retina (the innermost layer of the eye), further causing retinal damage and impairment of vision.

Glare

Floaters

Sudden Loss of vision

Headache

Blind spots in visual field

 

How is diabetic retinopathy diagnosed?

A complete eye examination is required for the detection of diabetic retinopathy. The retina of the

eye is examined by doing a fundoscopy after dilating the pupils. If diabetic retinopathy is detected further OCT and FFA are done to confirm the diagnosis and see the extent of the disease.
