Duration :

Viral conjunctivitis typically lasts 1-2 weeks, while bacterial conjunctivitis can resolve with treatment in a few days. Allergic or irritant conjunctivitis may continue as long as the allergen or irritant is present.

Contagiousness:

Viral and bacterial conjunctivitis can be highly contagious, especially in the first few days of infection. Allergic and irritant conjunctivitis are not contagious.
